Google will ask you to search for your business first to make sure it doesn't already exist. Once you follow the steps to add place in Google Maps Google will ask you to verify your business.
Depending on the type of business you manage, they may verify your business immediately, or by texting or calling you, or by mailing you a postcard with a 6-digit verification code on it. Once you receive the verification code just enter it into the prompt within google.com/business where it says Verify Now.
