What do you want?


This week's lesson can be summarized by two sayings: "You don't get what you don't ask for" & "Don't be greedy!"


Of course, as you probably (did not) guess, we're talking about conversion optimization. Most people think getting your Google Business Profile & website to rank #1 is the hard part, and once that's done the business just rolls in. Wrong!


Once you rank high in the search results, you'll get many more visitors to your website, but those visitors don't always mean more customers.


There's a golden rule of thumb when it comes to converting web traffic to customers, and that rule is to only ask for one thing.


So what do you want?


Do you want people to call you for more information? Do you want them to submit a web form so you can contact them? Do you want them to book an appointment online? Do you want them to follow you on Instagram?


Pick the action you want the most, and make that the only thing you ask someone to do on the page you direct all your web traffic to. You heard me right - the only thing you ask someone to do.


If your Google Business Profile is pointing to your homepage, make sure your homepage doesn't have a bunch of calls to action. If it does, clean it up or change your Google Business Profile to point to a landing page.


If you have any amount of traffic on your website, it's easier to double your revenue by improving your conversion rate than by doubling the amount of traffic you're getting. Read that one again and let it sink in.
