How much bandwidth – or patience – do our customers currently have for marketing? Whether you believe we're in a recession or not, the word itself may be a formality at this point. As we begin the second month of 2023, it's clear that people are spending less for a number of reasons. Ongoing layoffs in many sectors, rising prices on essential services and food, and, for many marketers, the worry that AI may outbid them for a job are all contributing factors to less spending. How can we continue to connect with customers who aren't in the mood to spend? Simple – we adapt. We take a close look at our language and tone, turning towards themes of community, connection, and perseverance rather than the fun and frivolity of mindless spending. No matter what happens, your customers need your products & services. They just may be shuffling it down the priority list as their needs change. And as they do, we have to find ways to meet them where they are.

This VR marketing made us go... "huh?" The video below features a mind-bending VR installation on a beach that looks like a portal to another realm. And the whole thing is used to sell... furniture. Brands have long since known that creating memorable experiences for customers (and potential customers) is going to be a key part of success.
